Casey Kenny, MA, LPCA, NCC

Casey Kenny is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA)  and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). Ms. Kenny is pursuing the Registered Play Therapist (RPT) credential as well as full LPC licensure. Casey specializes in Child-Centered Play Therapy, an evidenced based approach to help children with aggression, anxiety, depression, relational problems, behavioral concerns, impulse control, trauma, abuse, divorced/separated parents, and self-esteem issues.

Ms. Kenny believes kindness, trustworthiness, and dedication can promote a positive therapeutic relationship. She meets children where they are developmentally and believes every child has the innate ability to grow. In the play room, children have a safe environment to process any challenges they may be facing, as play is their natural way to relate to the world. She also utilizes expressive arts when working with children/adolescent including drawing, painting, movement, sand-tray, and music.

Casey received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Play Therapy from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte, home of the Multicultural Play Therapy Center. At UNC-Charlotte, Casey studied under Dr. Phyllis Post (founder of the Play Therapy Center) and Dr. Kristie Opiola, two of the leading experts/reseachers in the field of Child-Centered Play Therapy. Ms. Kenny received specialized training in Child-Parent Relationship Training (CPRT), an evidence based technique which teaches parents methods of play therapy to practice with their children in the home. This empowers parents to build a better relationship with their child, decrease conflict and improve bonding.

Casey is passionate about working with children (as young as 2 years old), adolescents, and families. She currently receives supervision in play therapy from Dr. Greta Zuck, PhD, LPCS, RPT-S and Sara Thatcher, LCSW, CTS, RPT-S. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with loved-ones, painting, camping, and traveling to the coast anytime she can!
